Lucknow: Welcoming the probe into recognition and admission process of all universities and colleges in UP, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Monday said CM Yogi Adityanath has assured that the “education mafia will not be spared” and reiterated his govt’s commitment to protect students’ interests.Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, ABVP national general secretary Virendra Singh Solanki said the delegation had a meaningful discussion with the CM on Sunday. “We have made it clear that the education mafia and anti-student administration will not be spared. Our struggle will continue until students get complete justice,” he said.ABVP national secretary Ankit Shukla said: “Just as Yogi has cracked down on crime and mafia in the state, action against the education mafia will also be fast-tracked. We are confident that the culprits behind the police lathicharge (on ABVP activists) will be punished.”Shukla said six people have been arrested in the case and action has been taken against six policemen, including a CO, inspector and chowki in-charge. Bulldozer action was initiated against illegal constructions, and the Higher Education Council has also lodged an FIR against the university. The expulsion of two students has been revoked. ABVP national secretary Kshama Sharma accused Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University of “playing with the future of students for years” and ABVP has submitted evidence to the Chief Minister. “Now our priority is to ensure that the illegal money collected from students is refunded and guilty officials face the harshest punishment,” she said.ABVP members have urged the CM to order a probe into alleged financial irregularities in SRMU, reinstate expelled students and free the remaining illegally occupied land of the university.
