Stop construction of senior care centre in Moradabad’s Buddha Park: Maya | Lucknow News
Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati on Monday demanded that the construction of senior care centre at Gautam Buddha Park in Moradabad should be stopped immediately. This is the second time in a week that Mayawati has demanded scrapping of construction projects proposed at Buddha parks built by the BSP govt in various cities. On Aug 31, she termed the proposed construction of Shivalaya Park in Kanpur’s Buddha Park “inappropriate”. Later, she also welcomed the cancellation of the project. In a post on X on Monday, she wrote, “The Tathagata Gautam Buddha Park located in Manyavar Shri Kanshiram Ji Nagar in Moradabad district is the most popular park in the city. It is a place of faith for the followers of Buddhism and Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and Manyawar Shri Kanshiram Ji and various sections, especially the Bahujan Samaj. According to the information received, the municipal corporation of Moradabad is constructing a senior care centre in the park, due to which there is anger among the people and an atmosphere of unrest has been created.“She said that the govt should immediately stop the construction at the site so that peace and brotherhood did not get disturbed.“For the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the Govt of India established four medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh under the Special Component Plan, in which 70% of seats were allotted to these sections as per the instructions of the govt,” she said.“Now, the court has passed an order for 21% reservation to Scheduled Castes and 2% to Scheduled Tribes in these four medical colleges, just like in other medical colleges. Keeping in view the interests of the people of weaker sections, the Uttar Pradesh govt should present actual facts before the court and ensure cancellation of the court order so that the interests of weaker sections can be protected,” Mayawati added.
