CM announces financial aid, relief for flood-hit U’khand, Himachal | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday announced financial aid of Rs 5 crore each for the flood-affected states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and flagged off 48 trucks carrying relief material for the two states and Punjab. He said that the 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh were standing in solidarity with the residents of the flood-affected states.Flagging off trucks from Saharanpur, where he also inspected the impact of floods locally, the CM announced that the relief material would be delivered to the govts by minister Kunwar Brijesh Singh in Uttarakhand, minister Jaswant Saini in Himachal Pradesh, and Saharanpur MLA Rajiv Gumbar in Punjab. As of Monday, 31 districts in UP were affected by floods, up from 17 last Monday. “Timely preparations ensured that UP did not witness any major devastation, though minor waterlogging occurred in low-lying areas,” the CM said.He identified vulnerable regions along the Yamuna, from Saharanpur, Baghpat, and Gautam Budh Nagar to Prayagraj, and those along the Ganga, Saryu, Ghaghra, Ramganga, and Hindon rivers from Bijnor to Ballia.“Families which lost members to animal or snake bites during the rainy season received Rs 4 lakh in compensation. Funds are provided to rebuild homes destroyed by disasters, and families affected by river erosion are given land leases and financial aid to construct new houses. In flood-affected villages, arrangements are made for meals, milk for children, fodder for livestock, and safe transport to relief camps,” he said.Urging people to remain alert during disasters, the CM said that stagnant water accumulation could lead to diseases like diarrhoea and advised people to drink only boiled water. He also appealed to residents to prevent water accumulation around homes to stop the breeding of dengue and malaria mosquitoes, maintain cleanliness, and ensure regular spraying.“In case of snake or poisonous insect bites, immediate medical attention should be sought instead of resorting to traditional methods. Anti-rabies vaccines are available at all CHCs and district hospitals for those bitten by dogs or wild animals,” he added. The relief material being sent to other states, the CM said, was the same that was being distributed in UP. “Heavy rainfall, lightning, and cloudbursts have recently affected many areas in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, causing widespread flooding. The central and state govts are actively working to assist affected families. However, as Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are hilly states, life there is particularly challenging, and disasters severely disrupt public life. In such circumstances, it becomes the responsibility of other states to extend support,” he said.
