‘Felt like earthquake’: Survivors recall accident horror | Lucknow News

Lucknow: For those who survived the accident, the sound of metal crashing and sight of bodies flung felt less like a road accident and more like a natural disaster. “We thought it was an earthquake,” said Bharat Kumar from Triveninagar, his face pale as he clutched his bandaged arm.Around him, other survivors echoed the feeling of disbelief. Dinesh, 40, from Kathwara under BKT police station, struggled to sit upright on the hospital bed. “The ground shook, dust filled the air and in that moment, I was sure some natural calamity had struck. We had no chance to run,” he said, his eyes welling. Raman Kumar described the terror saying, “It was like the sky fell on us.”Suhail Ahmed of Garhi Kanoa, Alambagh, lay quietly, replaying the moment in his head. “I heard screams, saw blood and thought we would all get buried alive.”Vimla Devi from Sandila said, “I was on my way to Lucknow for my aunt’s birthday when suddenly the bus turned on its side and then cartwheeled twice before plunging down. People were screaming, luggage was flying and in those seconds I thought none of us would survive.”Their voices, fractured and trembling, carried the same refrain — they lived through something that felt like a disaster beyond comprehension.
