5-yr-old ‘gangraped’ by two juveniles | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A five-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by two juveniles, aged 13 and 14, in Ambedkar Nagar on Wednesday evening, police said. The accused reportedly lured the child under the pretense of showing her a mobile phone and committed the heinous act near her home. The girl was found bleeding by locals. Police said the girl lives with her grandmother after her mother abandoned her in early childhood and moved to Bihar. “At the time of the incident, the girl was alone at home when the two boys enticed her with the mobile phone and subsequently assaulted and raped her. The child’s cries alerted local women, who rushed to the scene and informed her grandmother and police,” Inspector Rakesh Kumar said. He said a case of gangrape has been registered and based on the statements of locals and surveillance footage, the two juveniles have been taken into custody. They were presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, which ordered their placement in a correctional home. The girl was provided with immediate medical care and is now stable and back with her family. LU professor in psychology, Manini Srivastava, emphasized that the roots of such serious juvenile crimes often lie in the family environment and social circumstances. Sociologist Naresh Kumar highlighted the need for gender sensitisation, moral education, and community involvement at social, familial and educational levels to prevent such crimes.TNN
