City schools to celebrate national space day tomorrow

Lucknow: All schools in Lucknow will celebrate the National Space Day on Saturday (Aug 23.)On the occasion, a new module, ‘India – A Rising Space Power,’ prepared by NCERT, will also be launched. Special activities will be organised for students in primary, upper primary, composite, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya schools. Basic education minister Sandeep Singh said, “India’s increasing achievements in space science are a source of inspiration for the new generation. We can connect them with space science and technology only by giving information about missions like Chandrayaan, Aditya-L1, and Gaganyaan. Through this effort, the govt is trying to strengthen the spirit of research and innovation in children.” “The objective of this event is to create curiosity and interest in space science and technology among children, so that they are inspired towards a career in fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. For this goal, special assemblies, exhibitions, workshops, and online/offline sessions with experts will be organised in schools,” he added. Director general school education Kanchan Verma said that to make children aware of the achievements of space exploration, the ministry of education has provided resources like Diksha, Nishtha, the NCERT website, and the India on the Moon portal, on which contemporary activities related to space are regularly updated. NCERT has also prepared a class-based module, ‘India – A Rising Space Power,’ which will be launched on Aug 23.
