Youth assaulted for objecting to inflated beer price | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Buying beer turned violent for a 20-year-old male in Lucknow who alleged he was assaulted in a bar for questioning the inflated price. In FIR lodged at Ghazipur police station, Vinay Kumar Awasthi, resident of Indiranagar, said he went to a beer bar in Munshipulia on Sept 10. He said beer priced Rs 185 was being sold for Rs 200 and when he asked why, the bar manager, along with 10–12 staff members, abused and thrashed him and attempted to strangle him while attacking with a sharp-edged weapon that caused serious injuries to his head, back, and hand. In FIR, provisions of BNS, 2023, including Section 191(2) (wrongful restraint), 115(2) (attempt to cause grievous hurt), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (criminal intimidation), and 127(2) (unlawful assembly) were invoked at Ghazipur police station on Sept 12. “Action will be taken after verifying CCTV footage and questioning the accused,” said SHO Ghazipur Vikas Rai.
