Woman beats village head candidate over ‘obscene’ behaviour | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A woman publicly assaulted a village head candidate in Gulriha area of Gorakhpur accusing him of repeated obscene behaviour.The confrontation, which took place on a busy road, was captured on video and has gone viral. The woman, a class four employee at BRD Medical College, alleged that Dilip Tiwari repeatedly harassed her with vulgar comments and offered unsolicited lifts. On Sept 7, while she was walking near the fields, Tiwari allegedly hurled caste-based slurs at her. When she protested, he attempted to flee. The woman informed her nephew and chased Dilip for nearly a kilometre. She caught up with him, grabbed his collar while he was still on the bike, and dragged him off. A heated altercation followed in the middle of the road, following which she assaulted Tiwari. Police arrived at the scene to de-escalate the situation. Both parties have filed complaints at Gulriha police station. Based on the woman’s statement, police have registered a case against Dilip Tiwari and Rajnath Tiwari under the SC/ST Act and other serious charges. In response, Dilip filed a counter-complaint accusing the woman’s husband and three others of assault and property damage. Circle Officer Ravi Kumar Singh said further probe was on.
