Sitapur administration launched a drive against encroachments, aim to remove illegal constructions

SITAPUR: The district administration and municipal corporation on Monday launched a large-scale anti-encroachment drive in Sitapur, clearing illegal structures to pave the way for a new road.Tehsildar Sitapur Sadar, Atul Sen Singh, who supervised the action, said the drive is being carried out on the stretch from Gurudwara Road via Ghataghar. “A road is to be constructed here. So, work is underway to remove illegal structures. A notice was issued a month ago. Even after that, some people still didn’t remove the encroachments. Therefore, action is being taken,” he said.The drive is expected to cover a 3 to 4 km route and is likely to take at least a week to complete. Officials said the initiative will help ease traffic flow and improve civic infrastructure in the area.Heavy machinery was deployed, and teams were seen dismantling shops and temporary structures. While some residents expressed concerns, officials maintained that the action followed due process and prior notice.
