Lucknow: The third season of UPT20 League is set for a grand finale, with Kashi Rudras taking on Meerut Mavericks in the final on Saturday night. Ahead of the title clash, League chairman DS Chauhan addressed the media with skippers Madhav Kaushik of Meerut and Karan Sharma of Kashi.Highlighting the achievements of the tournament, Chauhan said the league marked a significant milestone by introducing Railways players in the auction, exclusively those with Uttar Pradesh domicile. “This step by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has offered these players a valuable platform to shine and further their careers, while focusing the league’s talent pool firmly on Uttar Pradesh’s own cricketing ecosystem,” he said. “It has been a great season for young players like Prashant Veer, Adarsh Singh and Aaradhya Yadav. Four centuries and 50 half centuries have been scored and for six times scores of over 200 have been put on the board this season. There have been 550 sixes and 813 boundaries smashed by players,” he said. On the absence of Rinku Singh, Meerut stand-in skipper Madhav Kaushik said, “Last year too, I led the team without Rinku Singh. He was on national duty and we lifted the maiden title and this year I am deputy of Rinku Singh, his absence isn’t an adversity but an opportunity for me. He is representing the country and every player has a dream to wear the Indian jersey. I am lucky to have this situation to lead and lift the trophy.” Kashi Rudras skipper Karan Sharma said, “We are ready for the final. Our team and players gave 100% throughout the tournament. The whole tournament was an amazing experience.”
