UPPTC awarded for excellence

Lucknow: The UP Power Transmission Corporation has been awarded ‘State Transmission Company of the Year’ at the India Electricity–Powering India Awards 2025 held in Delhi. The national-level recognition marks a milestone for the state’s energy sector and efforts of power engineers under Yogi govt. General secretary of UP Rajya Vidyut Parishad Abhiyanta Sangh, Jitendra Singh Gurjar, said, “UP successfully met a peak power demand of 30,618MW and leads the country with a transmission capacity of 169,079 MVA and 55,051 circuit km of transmission lines. In FY 2024–25, the state energised multiple substations and transmission lines and cut transmission losses to just 3.22%. Drone and digital patrolling have helped cut line tripping rates significantly. He said, “Abhiyanta sangh also urged CM to reconsider privatisation proposals for Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal distribution corporations. Empowering skilled engineers could lead to rapid improvements in performance and service delivery. We recommend new transmission substations be developed directly by UP Power Transmission UPPTC rather than through TBCB (tariff-based competitive bidding).”
