UP tourism showcases village life through FAM trip

Lucknow: The UP tourism department sent a group of 40 on a familiarisation trip on Friday to foster team spirit among various stakeholders of the rural tourism sector.The ‘FAM trip’, which showcased farm stays, homestays, SHG-led products and community-based tourism practices, aimed to attract tourists and foster cultural revival.The day-long trip included visits to farm stays in the rural tourism village of Kathwara and Barabanki. Guests experienced traditional cuisines, interacted with rural hosts, and witnessed the role of self-help groups in promoting crafts and local entrepreneurship.Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Villages are not just places; they are living experiences of India’s heritage. Rural tourism is the future of India’s global appeal and will create both identity and income for our communities.”Principal secretary for tourism, Mukesh Kumar Meshram said that rural tourism is “India’s soft power,” while special secretary for tourism, Eesha Priya emphasised that “tourism today is about soul-seeking.”The FAM trip underlined how UP is pioneering community-led rural tourism, ensuring that village experiences become a driving force for sustainable growth, cultural pride and inclusive prosperity.
