UP to celebrate Sewa Pakhwada from PM b’day to Gandhi, Shastri Jayanti | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The state govt will be celebrating a two-week-long ‘Sewa Pakhwada’, starting from PM Narendra Modi’s birthday on Sept 17 to Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The Pakhwada will also mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay on Sept 25.On Monday, CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations for the fortnight. “The Sewa Pakhwada is not just a series of events but an opportunity to serve the poor, deprived, and oppressed sections of society, inspired by the personalities, achievements, and life values of PM Modi, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Mahatma Gandhi, and former PM Shastri. It will embody the spirit of ‘Antyodaya to Rashtriya Uday’,” the CM said.The CM said that during the two weeks, various programmes should be organised, such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, blood donation camps, health camps, intellectual dialogues, fairs and exhibitions under ‘Vocal for Local’, sports and art competitions, and marathons, while exhibitions on the life of PM Modi should be organised in all districts. Directing officials to ensure maximum public participation in these programmes, the Yogi said that MPs, MLAs, public representatives, and party officials should actively participate in these events. Cleanliness drives should be held from the first day itself to ensure cleanliness in the state before Navratri.“The PM’s birthday is an occasion of pride and inspiration for all citizens. Under his leadership, India achieved new heights in nation-building. His style of service, dedication, and good governance strengthened India’s identity on the global stage. During the fortnight, we will bring the message of ‘Service is the Highest Duty’ to the ground. Extensive tree plantations should be carried out, and ‘Namo Van’ and ‘Namo Park’ should be established,” he said.The CM added that on the anniversaries of Upadhyay, Gandhi, and Shastri, seminars, floral tributes, tree planting, and cleanliness programmes should be organised. He added that efforts should be made to incorporate Gandhi’s messages of self-reliance and cleanliness and Shastri’s slogan of ‘Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan’ into people’s lives.The CM said that each event should be widely publicised, and reports should be uploaded on the Namo App and SIMPLE Portal.
