UP badly needs a majority BSP govt, says Akash Anand | Lucknow News
Lucknow: BSP’s national convener and party national president Mayawati‘s nephew, Akash Anand, paid tributes to BSP founder Kanshi Ram on his 19th death anniversary on Thursday. Akash Anand said that by observing the large number of people who came to Lucknow to pay their tributes to Kanshi Ram and listen to ‘Behenji’, he was confident that the BSP govt would come to power in UP for the fifth time, with a full majority, under the leadership of party national president Mayawati. “The majority govt of BSP is also what UP badly needs at this hour,” he added. In his nine-minute speech, which was also the first he gave with Mayawati and his father and party vice-president, Anand Kumar, present on stage, he not only eulogised and highlighted the struggles of Kanshi Ram, which he undertook to uplift the lives of Dalits, backwards, and other oppressed classes of people, but also spoke highly of Mayawati’s struggles and dedication in taking the mission of her predecessors forward. Akash, who was introduced by UP BSP president Vishwanath Pal as “prakhar vakta, naujawano ke dil ki chahat, shikshit and yogya (eloquent speaker, educated, capable, and liked by youth)” from the stage, said that the real tribute to “Kanshi Ram Ji” would be to bring BSP to power at the Centre and also in states, to give Dalits and Bahujans the desired benefits of reservation as laid down in the “Constitution of Babasaheb”.Akash, who was expelled from the party in March by Mayawati but was taken back after he apologised to her publicly, was promoted in August as the party’s national convener. The post was created for the first time, specifically to accommodate him in the party hierarchy. On Thursday, he entered the event venue with Mayawati and paid floral tributes to Kanshi Ram after her. On the stage, he sat next to her, followed by Anand Kumar, national general secretary SC Mishra, lone party MLA from Rasra in Ballia, Umashanker Singh, and state president of the party, Vishwanath Pal.
