Train decouples near UP-MP border

Lucknow: The Bhagalpur-bound Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Bhagalpur Super Fast Express decoupled near the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh border in the early hours of Monday.The mishap occurred around 3am between Majhagawan and Tikaria railway stations of Jabalpur division of West Central Railway Zone, caused alarm among passengers. There were no injuries.Harshit Shrivastav, chief PRO of the WCR zone, told TOI: “The 22-coach train separated at the fourth coach from the rear. The S1 sleeper coach, two general coaches, and one luggage coach were left behind, while the rest of the train continued toward Tikaria in Chitrakoot district. The decoupling was attributed to a faulty coupling mechanism on the S1 coach.”Railway staff shifted passengers from the affected S1 coach to other coaches.The detached portion of the train was brought to Tikaria, where the train was reassembled and resumed its journey by 7.30 am.Refreshments were provided to passengers by railway staff from Satna Junction.“Since Tikaria station has a loop line, train operations on the Satna Junction to Prayagraj Chheoki Junction route were quickly restored,” added CPRO.
