Swastik Lotus Garden opens at NBRI

Lucknow: The first-of-its kind Swastik Lotus Garden was inaugurated at the National Botanical Research Institute during the CSIR Startup Conclave on Monday. The garden houses 60 varieties of lotus sourced from across the world and 50 species of water lilies, with conservation ensured through advanced genetic methods, light exposure regulation, and scientific treatments. Among its highlights is the NBRI-Namoh 108, claimed to be the world’s first 108-petal lotus developed in Lucknow. During the conclave, technologies of the products and varieties developed by the CSIR institute were transferred to private companies so that they can reach the common man. The technologies developed by NBRI such as series of perfumes namely Frotus-Rudra, Frotus-Kumbh, and an air-freshener, Frotus Fresh, were transferred. Green firecrackers and other products were also transferred. Similarly, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants’ pain-relieving aromatherapy oil, Relaxomap, and Indian Institute of Toxicology Research’s portable water analysis kit and others were transferred.
