State cabinet approves three new private varsities in UP

Lucknow: To expand access to higher education, the state cabinet on Friday approved the establishment of three new private universities in Chandausi (Radha Govind University), Jhansi (Gandhi University) and Fatehpur (Thakur Yugraj Singh University).Higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyaya said the establishment of the universities was approved through the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Fifth Amendment) Ordinance, 2025. Sponsored by the Sonal Educational Society, Mathura, Radha Govind University will be set up on 22.05 acres of land in villages Akauli and Rasulpur Kali, Chandausi, Sambhal. He added that a letter of intent had also been issued to Sant Maa Karma Manav Samvardhan Trust for establishing Gandhi University in Jhansi. This university will be built on 20.21 acres of land in villages Ambabai and Rudra Karari, within the Jhansi Development Authority area. Similarly, a letter of intent was issued to Anglo Sanskrit College, Fatehpur, for setting up Thakur Yugraj Singh University in Fatehpur district. The proposed site spans 20.45 acres in Fatehpur Dakshini under the Municipal Council area.
