Spl drive against illegal firecrackers begins

Lucknow: As part of the ongoing ‘Operation Prahar’ campaign aimed at curbing criminal and illegal activities, the Nagaram police on Friday launched a large-scale crackdown against the illegal manufacture, storage, and sale of firecrackers.The operation was conducted under the overall direction of police commissioner Amrendra Singh Sengar in south zone. According to police officials, nearly 70 personnel participated in the operation, which involved intensive searches and checks across the Nagaram area. The joint team inspected 10 houses suspected of being used for illegal firecracker activities and detained three suspects, from whose possession a lighter pistol was recovered. The suspects are currently being interrogated for further information. Police teams also carried out thorough inspections of shops and storage units believed to be involved in the unauthorised trade of firecrackers. The drive was launched ahead of the Diwali season to ensure public safety and prevent potential fire-related accidents. Officials said the key objectives of the campaign are to eliminate illegal firecracker trade, prevent accidents during festive celebrations, and strengthen peace and law enforcement in society.
