Lucknow: The pilot phase of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Urban Livelihood Scheme will be rolled out in three districts of UP this month.The state urban development agency (SUDA), the nodal department to implement the scheme, has shortlisted Lucknow, Agra and Varanasi for the pilot phase, after which it will be extended to other parts. Benefits under the pilot phase will be distributed from Sept 24-30. Launched to reduce poverty and vulnerability among urban poor households, the scheme aims to provide employment opportunities to underprivileged families. “We are committed to addressing the livelihood concerns of urban poor. We will provide resources to families to help them find employment,” said a senior officer. Officials said in preliminary surveys, a list of homeless people staying would be prepared. Coordination will be done with govt departments to secure identity cards and benefits of welfare schemes by registering such individuals. TNN
