Lucknow: Smartphones, consumer electronics, fashion/beauty, groceries, and everyday essentials are the most popular product categories for patrons of online shopping platforms from the city.In fact, luxury beauty products scaled a growth of 30% year-on-year over Amazon in the city. Ahead of the upcoming festive season, senior executives from Amazon on Thursday shared some insights about the preferences and choices of the customers. Among other shopping segments which recorded healthy growth in the territory were jewellery items (20% YoY), apparel, home and kitchen appliances, among others. Moreover, attar (perfume) gift collections, polki, pearl, designer accessories, and gold-tone watches are some popular products that are attracting online shopping patrons who invest money in the latest fashion trends. Nikhil Sinha, director of Amazon Fashion, said, “We are delighted to see customers in Lucknow embracing premium fashion and beauty this festive season. We are continuously enhancing the shopping experience for our customers through technology-led features and the skincare analyzers for personalized recommendations. These innovations make festive shopping not only more convenient but also more personalised, helping customers discover products that truly suit their preferences.” Driving the momentum, kurtis and men’s shirts witnessed growth of 25 times and 12 times in terms of sales volumes and emerged as the top picks. Home and kitchen products also recorded 10 times growth compared to last year. Sameer Lalwani, product and business head at Amazon Bazar, added, “The response we are seeing in Lucknow towards value-led and budget-friendly products reflects how customers are celebrating with smart, affordable choices without compromising on quality.” More than 56,000 local shops and 2 lakh sellers from Uttar Pradesh are present on the shopping platform. In UP, Amazon India has one fulfilment centre and four sorting centres through which the delivery of the products is facilitated across the state.
