SI, mother booked on dowry plaint | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A sub-inspector, stationed at Kakadeo police station in Kanpur, was booked in a dowry harassment case following a complaint lodged by his wife with Sarojininagar police station here on Monday.The allegations, which also implicate the officer’s mother, paint a grim picture of domestic abuse. The victim accused her husband of physically assaulting her for failing to meet dowry demand of Rs 10 lakh. The situation escalated to the point where she was given sleeping pills in her food. The harrowing ordeal reportedly came to light when her mother rescued her from Kanpur and brought her to Lucknow in an unconscious state two years ago. Since then, she has been living with her children at her maternal home in Lucknow.
