Lucknow: Rinku Singh celebrated his selection in Team India for the Asia Cup with an explosive century in the UPT20 League at Ekana Stadium on Thursday.The Meerut Mavericks skipper smashed 108 runs off 48 balls, laced with seven boundaries and eight towering sixes, at an astonishing strike rate of 225 to script a six-wicket win over Gorakhpur Lions. Chasing 168, the Mavericks lost early wickets and were reduced to 38/4 in 8 overs when Rinku walked in and played a scintillating knock, punishing every bowler who came at him. He added 130 runs off 65 balls with Sahab Yuvraj (22) for the fifth wicket, taking the team home with seven balls to spare. Earlier, Gorakhpur Lions lost opener Aryan Juyal lbw to Vishal Chaudhary in the very first over. Skipper Dhruv Jurel (38) and Akshdeep Nath (23) added 45 runs, while Nishant Kushwaha chipped in with a crucial 37 as the Lions posted a respectable total of 167. Meanwhile, fine half-centuries from skipper Karan Sharma and Abhishek Goswami powered Kashi Rudras to their third consecutive win, crushing Noida Kings by 88 runs. Kashi’s disciplined bowling attack restricted Noida Kings to 85/10 in 12 overs. Batting first, openers Abhishek Goswami (50) and Karan Sharma (58) shared an 85-run stand off 60 balls. Late fireworks from Shubham Chaubey (30 off 18 balls) lifted Kashi Rudras to 173/6. In reply, Noida Kings were bundled out for just 85. Kartik Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Shiva claimed two scalps.
