Rescheduling rail e-tickets to become easier

New Delhi: From Jan next year, you will be able to change the date of train journey for confirmed e-tickets without losing any money and without any hassle of first cancelling an existing ticket and booking a new one. Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has directed officials to put a system in place by year-end, sources said.At present, such a facility is available only for tickets booked at the counters. However, there’s no guarantee of a confirmed ticket for the new date as it depends on seat availability. If the new ticket costs more, passengers will have to pay the fare difference. Per existing rules, 25% of fare is deducted when one cancels a confirmed ticket 48 to 12 hours before departure.
