Postal staff found dead on Mahanagar post office premises | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A rural postal service employee (Gramin Dak Sevak) was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the Mahanagar Post Office in Lucknow on Thursday morning.“The body was sent for postmortem, the family members were informed, and other necessary legal actions are being taken,” said Akhilesh Mishra, SHO, Mahanagar. The deceased, identified as a native of Haryana, was posted in Lucknow only a few months ago and was living alone in the room above the post office. He also worked as a night guard for the premises. According to staff, they grew suspicious when he did not appear for duty in the morning. Upon checking his room, they found the door locked from inside. When they peered through the window, they saw him hanging. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that senior officials inspected the post office a few days ago, during which the employee was reportedly scolded over some issue. “He has been mentally disturbed since then,” a staff member said. Friends of the deceased, who also work in the postal department in Lucknow, said they last spoke to him on Sunday, and he seemed normal. “He told me everything was fine. We usually meet on Sundays,” said his friend. The deceased is survived by his father and a sister; his mother passed away long ago. His family has been informed and is on the way to Lucknow.
