MLA slams SP for Diwali remarks

Lucknow: Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leaders for their remarks against Indian traditions, calling them “anti-Sanatan” and “politically motivated”.In a strong statement on social media, Singh said that those who fear lamps during Diwali are “afraid of the darkness within themselves.” He added, “A lamp is not just a clay vessel, it is a symbol of India’s soul — of knowledge, righteousness, and light. Those disturbed by the Diwali festival are, in truth, threatened by India’s eternal brightness.” Condemning recent remarks by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan, he said their mindset “sees danger in lamps but finds no compassion in the flames of slaughterhouses.” He added that those opposing the light of Sanatan values are trying to “extinguish the soul of India.” In another message, Singh accused the Congress and SP of dividing the country along caste, religion, and regional lines.
