Lucknow: Meerut crushed Varanasi 69-37 to win the 29th State Sub-Junior Boys’ Basketball Championship at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium on Thursday. Meerut’s cagers displayed an excellent mix of attack and defence to clinch the championship trophy in a dominating performance. Kaushal scored 18 points, and Aarush added 17 in Meerut’s win. Gorakhpur secured third place, defeating Agra 71-44. Ankit and Aman scored 20 and 16 points, respectively, in Gorakhpur’s win. RP Singh, Director of Sports, gave away the prizes. Cricket: India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’ cricket teams are set to arrive on Friday for two multi-day matches scheduled at Ekana Stadium from Sept 16.
