Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati on Thursday expressed concern over the widespread devastation caused by incessant rains, floods and landslides in several states, and urged the central and state govts concerned to adopt humanitarian approach towards those affected and offer immediate help.In a post on X, she said in various states, especially Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Assam, floods due to heavy rains and landslides are causing widespread loss of life, property and livestock in rural areas and heavy waterlogging in urban areas like Gurugram and Noida. Due to this, crores of families are facing tremendous difficulties and financial crises. “In such a situation, the news and pictures of people coming forward on a largescale to help the victims in the name of humanity is very satisfying news, but in such bad conditions, the central and concerned state govts should fulfil their responsibility towards people with full sincerity,” she said. She added that govts should also adopt humanitarian behaviour and immediately come forward to help all the affected families. Along with this, govts will have to continuously pay proper attention to all the necessary and basic public facilities in the future, so that such problems do not get complicated every year. “The common people’s life, and especially the livelihood of crores of farmers, poor, labourers, and other hardworking people, should not be affected because of it,” said the former UP CM.
