Maya starts campaign in Bihar, to address first public meeting in Bhabhua today | Lucknow News

Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati will address her first public meeting in Bihar on Thursday, at Bhabhua in Kaimur district for the second phase of the assembly polls. It will be the start of her election campaign in Bihar. BSP was the first party to declare candidates for the Bihar elections. Bhabhua, along with two other constituencies of Kaimur, Mohania and Ramgarh, were the first for which the party declared candidates in Sept. Chainpur is the fourth constituency of Kaimur. Chainpur was the only seat that the party won in the 2020 elections in Bihar, but the winning candidate, Mohammad Jama Khan, later switched sides to JDU. This time, BSP is contesting the Bihar election alone and has fielded candidates in all 243 seats, against 78 that the party contested in the last elections. The party has 40 star campaigners with Mayawati, along with her nephew and national convener of the BSP, Akash Anand, among the top two. Mayawati has given Akash Anand the special responsibility for the party’s election campaign in Bihar. BSP’s performance in the Bihar elections, therefore, will also be a test for Akash Anand. Bihar is the first election that he will face after his promotion as the party’s national convener. Because Bihar is a big state, the party leadership divided all assembly seats of the state into three zones and assigned responsibilities for each of them to senior party members for better results. The polling for the first phase in Bihar will take place on Nov 6 while the second phase will be on Nov 11. Counting will take place on Nov 14.
