Man shot dead in Sultanpur three months after marriage | Lucknow News



Lucknow: Panic gripped Bhandra Parshurampur village under the Kudwar police station in Sultanpur on Sunday morning when a 20-year-old youth was shot dead when he went to the fields to relieve himself.The police suspect the murder may be linked to a love marriage the victim entered into three months ago.The deceased, identified as Navneet Kori, son of Shankar, married Shivani, a girl from the same village, against her family’s wishes. According to villagers, around 7:15 a.m., Navneet was walking towards an orchard outside the village when an unidentified assailant opened fire. The bullet struck him and he collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely. Locals rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Kudwar, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police sources said that three months ago, Navneet eloped with Shivani, the daughter of Shivlal. The couple later registered their marriage before a notary. Over time, both families reached a compromise and Shivani began living at her in-laws’ home. She was at her matrimonial residence at the time of the incident.Following the killing, officers from Kudwar police station, along with CO Nagar Prashant Singh, inspected the scene. Multiple police teams have been deployed to track down the suspects. “We are working on identifying and arresting the attackers,” Singh said.The victim’s elder brother Anand Kumar lodged a complaint naming Shivani’s brother Rajneesh and father Shivlal as accused. The police have registered an FIR and begun further investigation.
