Man kills elderly mother after she refused to give money for liquor | Lucknow News
Lucknow: In a gruesome incident, a 70-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death by her son after she refused to give him money to buy liquor, Hardoi’s Shironamnagar village.Instead of alerting anyone, the accused reportedly remained inside the house, lying next to the blood-soaked body throughout the night. It was only on Wednesday morning that he stepped out and casually told villagers that his mother was dead. When the startled villagers rushed inside the house, they found Shakuntala’s body lying in a pool of blood, said Behta Gokul SHO Dharmendra Giri. The victim, Shakuntala Devi, was the widow of late police constable Avadh Bihari Agnihotri, whose pension was deposited in her bank account. For the past few years, she was living in Delhi with her two sons, Santosh and Chhote Bhaiya. Santosh works as a labourer in the capital. Shakuntala returned to the village with Santosh in the last week of Nov for pension verification and stayed on since then. According to police, trouble erupted on Tuesday night when Santosh demanded money from his mother to purchase liquor. When she refused, he allegedly picked up a brick and smashed her head, killing her on the spot.
