Man arranges wife’s weddingwith her lover

Lucknow: A man in Amethi stunned villagers when he arranged his wife’s marriage with her lover and bid her farewell after completing traditional rituals. The unusual incident took place at the Birla Temple in the Industrial Area of Amethi on Sunday evening, drawing wide attention. According to police and family sources, Shiv Shankar, a resident of Sindurwa village under Kamrauli police station limits, married Uma, daughter of Samai Prajapati from Raniganj, on March 2 this year. But soon after the wedding, it became evident that Uma was still deeply attached to her former lover, Vishal. Despite Shiv Shankar’s repeated efforts to convince her to get out of the affair and settle into married life, Uma continued to remain in touch with Vishal, often speaking to him late into the night. This led to frequent quarrels, escalating to the point that police were called in under preventive measures to maintain peace. Eventually, Shiv Shankar took a decision that shocked everyone — instead of prolonging the bitter marital conflict, he consented to Uma’s marriage with Vishal. On Sunday, in the presence of relatives and villagers, the wedding was solemnised at the temple. All rituals — from the garland exchange to the sindoor ceremony — were performed in full tradition. When the ceremony ended, it was none other than Shiv Shankar who bid farewell to his wife as she left with her new husband. Some villagers describe it as an act of rare courage and pragmatism, while others call it a reflection of helplessness in the face of strained relationships. Shiv Shankar’s decision has ensured that a matter of personal turmoil has now become the talk of Amethi.
