LU issues notices to six for campus row

Lucknow: A day after TOI highlighted how the law and order situation on the Lucknow University campus is deteriorating, the chief proctor office on Thursday issued a series of instructions to bring things under control. Acting on the FIR registered in connection with the Wednesday violence inside LU main campus, chief proctor Rakesh Dwivedi issued show-cause notices to six students, directing them to submit written explanations within three days.The students include Shivam Kumar Singh alias Shivam Singh Samrat (BA-III), Aman Dubey (PhD, political science), Prasoon Kumar Shukla (BLISc-II), Shivaji Yadav (MA-I), Utkarsh Singh Sikarwar (BSc-I) and Pawan Yadav (BSc-I). University authorities confirmed that a detailed inquiry into the incident is currently underway.The university administration has also adopted a firm stance against indiscipline and unauthorised stay in hostels. In a circular, it was highlighted that several individuals were residing in hostels without permission, disrupting peace and decorum on campus. The administration has instructed that students who have received two or more show-cause notices or FIRs in the 2025-26 session would be suspended or expelled from hostels. Hostel wardens have been asked to ensure strict disciplinary action against any violation of hostel rules. Chief provost Anup Kumar Singh has directed all provosts and wardens to conduct surprise inspections during meal hours to identify unauthorised residents and take immediate action. As per the directive of the vice chancellor, adherence to movement timings for hostel residents has been made mandatory. According to the university, any form of misconduct will not be tolerated, and necessary action will be implemented with immediate effect.
