Ever heard instrumental version of ‘Wish you a Merry Christmas’, not on guitar, violin or brass, but on sitar? Renowned sitarist Chandulal Kalburgi left the audience spellbound playing all-time classic tunes, from ‘Merry Christmas’ to ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ as he took over Repertwahr Festival’s ‘Shabd stage’ on the opening day on Thursday. As his fingers moved on the strings, audience was bound in spell of soothing raags cast, fusing classical with modern and Indian with Western. Clad in a shining kurta, Kalburgi blended traditional sitar music with modern electronic/techno beats to create an unforgettable musical experience.
