‘Health & education to drive $6 trn eco vision’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Transformation in the health and education sectors will be key drivers of the Viksit UP-2047 programme by which time govt hopes to develop the state into $ 6 trillion economy.Under the health sector, the state govt has set a target of covering 50% of households under medical insurance by 2030 and achieving 100% coverage by 2047. A major priority will be to reduce maternal and infant mortality as per sustainable development goal targets. Besides, govt also aims to establish two more AIIMS, two medical device parks and three pharma parks and expand the health workforce density to 40 per 1,000 population. UP will be developed as a hub of medical tourism, child nutrition and health research.Since 2017, UP expanded its network of medical colleges and health centres, in addition to implementing initiatives such as Jan Aushadhi Kendras and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.Under education and skill development, govt aims to develop UP as a hub of a global workforce by 2047. Its focus will be on ‘strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy’, scaling up digital classrooms, e-learning and EdTech in schools, training teachers, and promoting research and innovation.Already, over the past eight years, over 40 lakh children were enrolled through the School Chalo Abhiyan and Sharda programmes. Beneficiaries under RTE rose from 22,000 to 4.3 lakh, with Rs 638 crore reimbursed in fees, said a govt spokesperson.
