Govt releases funds for new townships in 4 cities

Lucknow: In a positive development for families looking for affordable homes, the state govt on Friday released funds for four housing development authorities to start work on setting up greenfield townships. Approving Rs 970 crore as the first tranche, the money will be utilised to aggregate land in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Rampur, and Baghpat. Under the chief minister’s new township scheme, a budget of Rs 3,000 crore was set aside for cities that required new township projects.Out of the funds, Rs 1,832 crore will be provided to the four authorities, of which the first instalment amounting to Rs 970 crore will be transferred to the four authorities by the housing department in a few days. This amount will be used as seed capital to take over the land parcels and develop townships.
