Golgappa that wouldn’t let go: Locks woman’s jaw mid-bite in Auraiya | Lucknow News
Lucknow: She reached for the golgappa the way countless people do. Opened her mouth wide, but it stayed open — her jaw snapped out of place. No warning. No time to react. One bite at a roadside stall outside the district hospital in UP’s Auraiya sent a 42-year-old woman straight from chaat to chaos Saturday.Family members at first chuckled, thinking she was exaggerating the struggle to shut her mouth. That amusement evaporated as her eyes welled with pain and she waved desperately for help. Realising something was seriously wrong, they rushed her to the hospital.Doctors tried manually resetting the dislocated jaw but couldn’t get it to move. After stabilising her, they transferred her to Ahilyabai Holkar Medical College. There, a team worked for nearly an hour before finally easing the jaw back into place.Relatives said this had never happened to her before. She had travelled to the district hospital only to accompany her niece for delivery. Stepping out with family for a snack seemed harmless until the golgappa refused to let her reclaim her bite. The woman is recovering. But among her family, the story of the golgappa has already become legend — that she had bitten off more than she could chew.
