Girl jumps into Gomti after tiff with family, dies | Lucknow News
Lucknow: An 18-year-old girl from Aashiana, who was preparing for NEET, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Gomti after an argument with her family members.Her body was found on the riverfront on Saturday, and her identity was ascertained on Sunday. Her father, who is presently posted in Mumbai, identified his daughter.Police said that the girl had an argument with her family members over some issue after which she left the house in a huff. When she did not return, her family lodged a report of her disappearance.Police received information about the recovery of the body of a girl from Gomti after which the family was contacted who identified the body.Police said that the girl reached the riverfront by an auto-rickshaw. She borrowed the driver’s phone and called her friend. It is still unclear if she informed her friend about her intention to commit suicide.SHO, Mahanagar, Akhilesh Mishra said further legal proceedings were underway.
