Highlighting the importance of SIR, Yogi said that organizational office-bearers, BLAs, and booth workers should establish connect with voters. He said that teams should be formed to conduct thorough investigation at each booth.A senior BJP functionary said that the CM sought to step up groundwork in assembly constituencies where the winning or losing margin was relatively thin in past election. Slow progress in some of the constituencies was pointed out during meetings. “Directions are accordingly being given to party workers,” he said. The development comes less than a week after senior BJP functionaries held a meeting with RSS office bearers in Lucknow. The meetings were attended by BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and senior RSS leader Arun Kumar.According to sources, RSS has expressed concern over the disinterest shown by a section of BJP functionaries and “growing disconnect” between elected representatives and organisational functionaries, including the RSS and party workers.A senior BJP functionary from west UP said that the CM sought to augment coordination between the public representatives and organisational functionaries. The meetings have put the govt machinery on alert.Experts said that this is not a routine administrative tour but underscores political mobilisation aimed at energising both elected representatives and BJP’s organisational machinery.Analysts said that the BJP views electoral rolls as the decisive battlefield. Though SIR is being done by the ECI, the political parties are trying to maximise accurate enrolment in areas perceived as their strongholds.BJP’s focus on constituencies which the party won or lost by thin margins is also seen as micro-level booth management.
