FIR against instigators after immolation bid | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A day after a man who tried to commit self-immolation outside the Vidhan Bhawan here was overpowered by police, an FIR was lodged on Sunday against unidentified persons who instigated him to take such a step.According to the FIR lodged with the Hazratganj police station, the incident occurred around 1:35 pm on Sept 13 between the gate number three and the gate number four of the Vidhan Bhawan. Head-constable Jayprakash Shukla, sector incharge of zone-one, who was deployed to check cases of self-immolation, noticed a man sprinkling some inflammable oil on himself. Shukla and his team members immediately swung into action and snatched the oil bottle from him.The man identified himself as Babulal Kannaujia (40), son of late Nandan Kannaujia, resident of Khaira Kanaku village under Lonikatra police station in Barabanki district. Babulal alleged that his son Divyansh was murdered, but police took no action against killers. He claimed that some people advised him to attempt self-immolation outside the Assembly to draw attention of authorities. Police managed to pacify him and immediately sent him to Hazratganj police station with the help of the anti-self-immolation response team.Based on Shukla’s written complaint, a case was registered under Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 against unknown persons for instigating Babulal to take the extreme step. Further investigation is underway.
