Lucknow: The Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) has been launched at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The initiative spearheaded by the Bureau of Immigration under the ministry of home affairs, was virtually inaugurated by Union Home minister Amit Shah at Terminal 3.The programme, which goes live on Friday, is tailored for Indian passport holders and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders, promising a smoother, faster, and more secure immigration experience. With CCSIA now part of this national rollout, Lucknow joins the ranks of airports embracing smart technology to enhance passenger convenience. “This is more than just a tech upgrade,” said an airport official. “It’s a shift in how we think about travel — making it seamless, secure, and user-friendly.” What is FTI-TTP?The Trusted Traveller Programme is a flagship initiative by the Government of India aimed at streamlining immigration procedures. Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Immigration, the programme is expected to become efficient in governance and improved public service delivery. How it worksTravellers interested in enrolling must follow a three-step process, First, they should apply online and submit personal details and documents at ftittp.mha.gov.in. The Bureau of Immigration reviews applications and creates a whitelist of approved ‘Trusted Travellers’. Approved individuals provide biometric data at designated centres like FRRO offices or airport counters. Once enrolled, travellers can breeze through immigration using dedicated e-Gates, reducing wait times.
