Lucknow: Artworks on Lord Ram and Lord Ganesha were displayed in an art exhibition organised by the State Lalit Kala Akademi and the UP culture department at the SLKA gallery on Friday.Artist, Bharat Bhushan Sharma from Firozabad, displayed as many as 53 artworks in the series called ‘Gajanand’. He painted different moods, emotions, stages, and episodes from Lord Ganesha’s life. “I chose to paint about Lord Ganesha because I feel he has a lot of innocence, naughtiness, his caring and loving nature, and his divine power as Vighnharta,” said Sharma. In one of his paintings, he depicted Lord Ganesha in his childhood, walking while holding his father Lord Shiva’s hand in shadow, and named it ‘Sneh Ki Dor’. In another painting, he showed Lord Ganesha playing with his toys, such as the moon and stars, and named it ‘Chandralok’. Another artist, Pratibha Pandey from Prayagraj, displayed around 40 artworks. She made the whole Ram Charitra Manas on cloth paper sheets with sketching and writing ‘Ram’, forming the painting along with artworks on canvas. “I chose Lord Ram as my subject because I’m a big devotee of Ram, and I believe the name of Lord Ram is a whole mantra in itself,” she said. The chief guest at the exhibition was Lucknow University VC Prof Manuka Khanna. “Artworks based on Rama infused new energy, and it is very commendable that artists have focused on spiritual themes in this era of figurative and semi-figurative art,” she said. Director of the Akademi Atul Kumar Agnihotri was also present on the occasion.
