Lucknow: The Election Commission of India has approved a 15-day extension for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, state CEO Navdeep Rinwa said. The extension was sought to ensure accurate voter lists by allowing district election officers to re-verify details of deceased, shifted and absent voters. According to the revised schedule, the counting period will now continue until Dec 26, 2025. The draft publication of electoral rolls will take place on Dec 31, 2025. Claims and objections can be filed from Dec 31, 2025, to Jan 30, 2026. The notice phase for decisions on forms and disposal of claims and objections will run from Dec 31, 2025, to Feb 21, 2026. The final publication of the updated voter list for Uttar Pradesh is scheduled for Feb 28, 2026. “The revision is based on the eligibility date of Jan 1, 2026, and aims to ensure a clean and error-free electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections,” the CEO said.
