Dy CM stresses growth of solar power units | Lucknow News

Lucknow: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday termed decentralised renewable energy (DRE) as a movement to ensure rural women were not mere users of energy but energy leaders too, shaping future of the country. Speaking at ‘DRE Samwad’ organised by Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Maurya said that by 2030, every Gram Panchayat in state would have a Surya Sakhi. “Our goal is over 3,000 solar shops and transition of more than 100,000 women-led enterprises to solar energy,” he said. The samvad, themed ‘Energising Women, Transforming Community’, brought together key stakeholders comprising govt officials, policy leaders, development partners and grassroots entrepreneurs. With India’s target of energy independence by 2047 and net-zero emissions by 2070, DRE solutions hold potential to not only power rural enterprises but also empower women with clean, affordable and sustainable energy alternatives, said officials. The workshop aimed to raise awareness, build alignment and drive collaboration around leveraging DRE to boost SHG-led enterprises, enhancing productivity, lowering operating costs and fostering economic resilience.
