DGP launches training of 60,000 constables, online portal for force | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Wednesday inaugurated a series of new initiatives aimed at modernising police training in Uttar Pradesh. These include the state police’s Online Training Management System, specially developed training modules on the Karmayogi iGOT portal, and the Smart PT Table–2025 for physical training. The launch, held under the banner ‘Police Training: A New Perspective’ at the Police Training Directorate in Lucknow, was attended by senior officers, including all DGs, ADGs, IGs, and DIGs posted in the state capital. The programme was organised in line with chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of ensuring the highest quality training for the police force through cutting-edge technology and scientific methods. Director General, training, Tilottama Verma, explained that the new online training portal would serve as a 24/7 platform for trainees, offering access to presentations, videos, and PDFs on indoor and outdoor subjects. The Smart PT Table–2025, approved by the Sports Authority of India, will replace conventional methods with modern scientific systems to enhance physical fitness. For the first time, nearly 60,000 constables are being trained simultaneously. To support this, trainers from ITI and PTI backgrounds have been prepared in sufficient numbers, with many undergoing specialised courses at premier CRPF training centres to become master trainers. Nutrition, physiology, and health coaching modules have also been introduced. In addition, training syllabi across all ranks have been revised and upgraded. DGP Rajeev Krishna praised the Police Training Directorate and its officers, calling the new infrastructure “historic and unmatched across the country.” “Even with advanced technology, if training is not of the highest quality, it loses its value. Along with physical fitness, our police personnel must also gain technical knowledge, legal understanding, and sensitivity. Only then can they remain updated, disciplined, and responsive to citizens’ needs,” the DGP said. He stressed that the current training of 60,000 constables must be taken to a level that ensures their readiness to serve with discipline and integrity for the next 35–40 years.
