Delhi Red Fort blast probe: Al-Falah's 'Madam Surgeon' Shaheen Shahid, Muzammil Shakeel among 4 doctors arrested by NIA

LUCKNOW: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday arrested four more prime accused in the November 10 Red Fort blast case — including a Lucknow-based woman doctor and a Saharanpur-origin medical practitioner — taking the total number of arrests to six. Those arrested have been identified as Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather, a doctor in Saharanpur but native of Anantnag, Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian, the NIA said. All four were taken into custody in Srinagar on production warrants issued by the Patiala house court. According to the central counter-terror cell, Lucknow doctor Shaheen Saeed, Saharanpur-linked doctor Adeel Ahmed Rather, and the two others “played a major role” in planning and executing the Delhi blast that killed several civilians and left many injured.

Investigators said the group contributed to logistics, planning, and on-ground facilitation of the terror plot. Until now, the four were under the custody of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The arrests follow two earlier detentions by the NIA: Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car used in the blast was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani, alias Danish, who allegedly provided key technical support to the module. Both are currently being interrogated. The NIA, which took over the case soon after the explosion on the directive of the Union home ministry, is coordinating with multiple state police units to dismantle the entire network behind the blast. The agency said it is pursuing all leads to uncover the full conspiracy in the case and identify every individual involved in the attack.
