Cyber use inevitable but caution needed: DGP | Lucknow News
Lucknow: DGP Rajeev Krishna on Friday said cyber use has become an unavoidable part of modern life, but one must be cautious against its misuse, particularly the growing addiction to online gaming among youth.Addressing a workshop on cyber awareness organised by Kanpur Dehat Police, the DGP, who addressed it via video conferencing, calling the initiative timely and vital. The workshop aims to strengthen coordination between police, students, professionals, and citizens against the rising tide of cybercrime. “A safe digital Uttar Pradesh will be possible only when people and police work together,” he said. Senior police officials, including ADG Kanpur Zone, IG Kanpur Range, SP Kanpur Dehat, CDO, teachers and students from various schools and colleges, representatives from trade bodies, local civic members, media personnel, and cyber experts Amit Dubey and Rahul Mishra participated in the event. Over 1,000 participants joined the session online and offline.DGP discussed the growing impact of cybercrime on society, highlighting cyberbullying among students, stalking of women, and emerging threats like “digital arrest” scams that have duped affluent citizens. Krishna identified greed, fear, and negligence as the top three reasons behind online frauds, urging citizens to immediately dial 1930 and report incidents within the “golden time frame.”
