Crimes against women will invite tough police action | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday drew an analogy from the Ramayana while commenting on the arrest of a shooter involved in the firing at film actor Disha Patani‘s ancestral home in Bareilly. Speaking at Lok Bhawan, the CM likened the shooter to Maareech, the demon known for disguise and deception, and said, “You saw yesterday that a criminal involved in a crime against women came from outside, possibly like Maareech. But when the bullet of the UP Police hit him, he admitted he had wrongly entered UP and vowed never to show such audacity again.”The CM further warned that anyone attempting to compromise the security and dignity of women in the state would meet the same fate. Police said Ramanivas, one of the five shooters in the Bareilly firing case, was injured during an encounter on Friday and arrested along with his associate Anil. SSP Anurag Arya confirmed that a .32-bore pistol, four live cartridges, and four spent shells were recovered from the accused. A video of the incident surfaced showing Ramanivas lying on the ground with folded hands, pleading with the police: “Baba ke UP mein kabhi nahi aayenge, sir” (“I will never come to Baba’s UP again”).
