Congmen pay homage to Kakori martyrs | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Congress on Friday paid homage to the martyrs of the Kakori Train Action, a landmark event in India’s freedom movement.Under the leadership of state in-charge Avinash Pande and president Ajay Rai, thousands of Congress party workers gathered, holding placards and the national flag, chanting patriotic slogans as they reached the martyr’s memorial. They laid wreaths and paid heartfelt tributes to the immortal martyrs Chandra Shekhar Azad, Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, Roshan Singh, and Rajendra Lahiri. Led by state in-charge Avinash Pande and state president Ajay Rai, thousands of Congress workers gathered with placards and the national flag, chanting patriotic slogans as they marched to the martyrs’ memorial. They laid wreaths and paid heartfelt tributes to the immortal heroes. Speaking on the occasion, Pande said the nation would always remain indebted to the sacrifice of these martyrs who gave up everything for the country. “The entire month of Aug is a month of revolution, as it was in this month in 1942 that the Quit India Movement’s revolutionary slogans echoed across the nation,” he said. In his address, Ajay Rai said the martyrs laid down their lives with a smile and urged the younger generation to imbibe the same spirit of patriotism. “We pay heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and call upon today’s youth to carry forward the ideals of our revolutionaries,” he said. Leader of the legislative assembly, Aradhana Mishra, said the struggle of these freedom fighters not only freed India from British rule but also united the nation.
