Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the BJP govt successfully curbed the mafia in the state and added that those who recite prayers in the burial of criminals should understand that they will no longer be tolerated in UP.Handing over keys of flats of the houses developed for people of economically weaker sections (EWS) on the land freed from encroachment by mafia-turned-politician late Mukhtar Ansari in Lucknow, Yogi said, “This is not just an ordinary ceremony. It is a message to the poor families that they will have their homes built on the land which was once illegally taken over by mafias.” “Those who recite prayers in the burial of mafias need to understand that they would no longer be tolerated in UP,” Yogi said during the event held at Ekta Van, a new public park developed near Jiyamau trisection along Lohia Path.Yogi said that those encroaching public land would have to pay a heavy price for their misdeed.“This is the new Uttar Pradesh of a new India, a land of progress and cultural pride,” Yogi said.Yogi presented housewarming gifts to 72 families, distributed chocolates among children and planted saplings with them in the housing complex.“Millions of people are taking a dip in the holy river on Kartik Purnima in various cities. Kashi is busy with Dev Deepawali celebrations and lakhs of people will be present in the illuminated city. It is a matter of pride for us since we have been able to deliver the flats to the needy on this auspicious occasion,” he said.“The flats sold out to lucky families by the local development authority for Rs 10.7 lakh could have fetched crores of rupees in the market due to its prime location. Nearly 8,000 applicants participated in the lottery draw which was held to allocate 72 units,” he said.Pointing out to the transformation that took place in Lucknow, Yogi said new parks and public places were developed in recent years.“Ever since the BJP govt took over, mafias have been put under check. We have managed to change the image of the state through sustained campaigns and actions against such elements,” the CM said.Referring to Ekta Van as “the greatest tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”, Yogi said that structures built by the mafias along Kukrail-Gomti riverbank were demolished to create Saumitra Van and illegal encroachments, including those by Rohingya infiltrators, had been removed.He said that the life of Sardar Patel embodies unity, integrity and service to the nation. “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel employment centres will soon be established across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. These centres will focus on developing industrial clusters and providing skill training for youth, ensuring local employment and preventing migration in the long term,” he said.One of the allottees, Sonu Kumar Kanaujiya, said: “I am grateful to the Yogi Adityanath govt for providing me a property at such a prime location.”Cabinet minister Suresh Khanna, Rajya Sabha members Dinesh Sharma, Sanjay Seth and Brijlal, along with mayor Sushma Kharkwal and senior officials of housing department were present.
