City to get Namo Van on Gomti banks | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Lucknow Municipal Corporation will develop a new green zone, Namo Van, on the banks of the Gomti river at Ghaila ghat. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal inspected the site on Thursday. Officials said the park will serve both ecological and recreational purposes. To be built at a cost of Rs 15 crore, the park will have a butterfly garden, jogging track, bamboo structures, a water body, open gym and a bird-friendly garden. Educational centres will be set up to help children and tourists understand trees and ecological cycles. One of the highlights will be a natural cafeteria. Instead of a conventional building, it will be designed with lawns and grass-based seating to give the feel of dining in a garden. Organic and local food products will be available in the cafeteria.The Miyawaki forest method of plantation will be used to develop the urban forest. Around 1,31,250 saplings of long-lived species will be planted. Mayor Kharkwal said, “Namo Van will not only improve the city’s green cover but will also provide residents a healthy recreational space. Our aim is to make it a model of urban ecological balance.”
